Supplying India's Booming Beer Industry

(Summary description)

Information

In recent years, India has seen a surge in beer production and demand, and Lehui has been at the forefront of supplying Indian breweries with high-quality brewing and packaging equipment. In 2008, Lehui exported and installed two 3,250 hL beer fermentation tanks for UB Group in India. At that time, these were the largest beer fermentation tanks in India, and we take pride in working with Indian breweries to help expand the country's growing beer industry.

Expected Growth of India's Beer Industry

In 2008, the annual sales of beer in the India market was around one billion liters. Since that time, the country's annual beer production has more than doubled to nearly 3 billion liters. Compared to China's 45+ billion liters of annual beer production, the potential for the Indian brewing industry and expected growth is massive.

A thousand journey takes every step

Lehui's past eight years of work in India reflect the growth and opportunity for the country's brewing industry. Over that time, we have delivered a variety of brewing, packaging and distribution equipment for six of UB Group's production facilities in India located in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mysore, Calcutta and Patna. Currently, we are installing a filler and pasteurizer for AB Inbev's Hyderabad brewing facility.

India's economic growth rate as a whole is also a promising sign for the country's beer industry, as India's GDP growth exceeded China for the first time in 2015. India's economy is expected to maintain rapid growth over the next few years, and nationwide demand for beer is expected to increase.

Though beer consumption per capita is relatively low in India, the country has a population of nearly 1.2 billion and the median age is 27. Young people in India are the main contributors to demand for beer, and this demographic will increase in coming years.

In recent years, the Indian government has also worked to crack down on economic counterfeit and corruption. These anti-corruption policies show that the Indian government is making strides toward economic health, transparency and justice, which is good news for our foreign investors and for Lehui's involvement with the Indian brewing industry.

Lehui's New Manufacturing Facility in India

To meet the rising demand for beer & beverage in India, Lehui International has invested in a new manufacturing facility in Valodara, India, and the new plant is expected to operate in 2017. Lehui will combine Indian manufacturing with our own technology and local service, and the facility will be committed to producing world-class brewing and packaging equipment for the beer, beverage, dairy, food and biopharmaceutical industries in India. This new manufacturing center will help us meet the demands of this emerging market with more than 1.2 billion consumers.

To ease our entry into the Indian market, Lehui will seek a joint development with our partner Huaheng Welding, a leading manufacturer of automated welding equipment. Lehui's new manufacturing center will be located next door to Huaheng's facility.
